Sunderland job there for Poyet

Gus Poyet has revealed he's been offered the Sunderland job.

The Uruguayan boss, who last managed Brighton, will have to convince Sunderland's American billionaire owner that he is the right man to place in charge at the Stadium of Light.

"My opportunity to manage Sunderland is there. I'm waiting. Nervously," Poyet said.

He told the Daily Mirror: "Since the start of the season I've dedicated myself to watching the games of teams that might call me if things weren't going too well."

Short wants to check all other options, look at Poyet's character and hear about his footballing philosophy before signing off on any deal.
