Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is keen on Lazio striker Mauro Zarate.
The People says O'Neill is eyeing a loan deal for Lazio's Argentinian forward Zarate.
West Ham United had a bid rejected for Zarate before they signed Joe Cole - and QPR boss Harry Redknapp has also shown interest in the player.
Redknapp could yet make a bid for Zarate but Sunderland appear to be in the box seat.
