Sunderland defender Kilgallon proud of performance for Man City draw

Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon was proud of his performance for their draw at Manchester City.

Kilgallon last played back in January and has been forced to wait to break back into the side since returning to full fitness following injury.

"I saw the stat where no-one had got a point there this season, I was thrown in and thought, 'right, here we go!' " he joked on safc.com.

"I have trained hard and the gaffer puts on really tough sessions for the players who haven't been playing to keep our fitness up.

"I knew when I got the chance to come back in I'd be fit and ready to go."

Kilgallon added: "The lads did brilliantly.

"We are disappointed in there that we didn't get three points against a team going for the league title.

"No other team has done what we just have this season.

"We are gutted but it was a good performance and everyone worked hard for each other."
