Sunderland are eyeing Atletico Madrid winger Cristian Rodriguez.
The Daily Mail says Sunderland have been in contact with the Uruguayan.
The 28-year-old is keen to move on after playing 20 league games last season and being left on the bench for the majority of the Champions League semi-final with Chelsea and the final with Real Madrid.
Rodriguez, nicknamed 'Cebolla' or 'Onion', was a part of his country's World Cup squad and Gus Poyet is exploring the finances required to get him to the Stadium of Light.
