Sunderland chairman Quinn warns clubs over rising ticket prices

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn says Premier League clubs must be wary of rising ticket prices.

Quinn warned that supporters could be alienated by a culture of high ticket prices in the game.

He said that if the issue was not addressed crowds could dwindle across the League, ultimately imperilling the value of broadcast contracts based in part on the spectacle of full stadiums and passionate crowds.

"Once we send [televise] the game abroad with empty stadiums, it is over," he warned. "Supporters always want us to get the chequebook out and buy players but they are unhappy that so much money is being paid out in the game, and with ticket prices.

"A guy who used to be able to bring his two kids to the game can't afford to do that any more and we have to address that."
