Sunderland captain O'Shea: Never a problem at Man Utd with Keane

Sunderland captain John O'Shea says he never had problems with Roy Keane at Manchester United.

Even as a youngster, O'Shea experienced Keane's famous initiation tests and expects nothing different when he returns as Martin O'Neill's assistant to the Republic of Ireland squad next week.

O'Shea said: "Oh, I had the run-around all right. With new signings at United he would give them a little test to see if you were comfortable with the situation.

"But that was not just Roy it was the whole of the United squad. It was a good introduction just to let you know you were a Manchester United player now and you were going to get a good test here to see how you dealt with it.

"He was spot on with me. The standards he set were brilliant because he wants to win and that is what we need."
