Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has told Emanuele Giaccherini he can solidify his World Cup place with Italy by starring on Wearside.
Poyet says he's a fan of the midfielder.
He insisted: "He's a special case. He prefers to play as one of two central midfielders because he played there all the time in Italy. Against Kidderminster, he's going to have that chance.
"I like him and I want him here. He's always positive, whether he's playing or not playing. He trains hard and I love the mentality they bring from Italy. They want to do extra work and extra running.
"We had a great chat the other day and I made the position clear. It's nice for him to have the opportunity and for me to see him in that position. He needs to be ready because if he comes in and we win then he'll stay in."
