Sunderland boss Roy Keane admits he needs to improve their scouting network.

Keane envies the contacts Manchester City rival Sven Goran Eriksson boasts and told the Sunday Sun: "Elano and (Martin) Petrov are internationals so they weren't exactly unknowns, but they didn't come onto my radar at the time, I have to admit.

"They weren't players who we discussed here, I have to say.

"But Sven took a chance on them and he deserves credit for that because no matter who you bring in, there is always an element of risk but he took that risk and it has worked out.

"It's been the same for me, I've taken chances on a few people and some have settled in really well and with others I am hoping there is more to come from them in the next few months."
