Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits he will be going to the World Cup to check on potential signings.

Bruce says he will be an interested spectator this summer - but he's hinted he may take more notice of the games not involving the so-called 'big guns'.

Its all part of the manager's plan to bring the very best available talent to the club over the summer.

"We're never going to get your Brazilians and Argentinians, but every manager has teams they keep an eye on and I'm no different," Bruce told safc.com.

"I know all about every single team and it will be interesting to see which players impress."
