Sunderland boss Steve Bruce hasn't shelved his interest in Tottenham striker Peter Crouch.
The Daily Star Sunday says he is determined to land a big name to partner Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan for the coming season.
Ideally, Bruce would like a striker in the mould of the club's chairman, Niall Quinn, to make things happen up front.
Crouch, 30, has been quoted as saying he does not want to leave Spurs.
However, despite the former Liverpool target man's stated desire, Bruce firmly believes that things could change if he tempts Spurs with a bid of around £10m.
And Bruce is sure that he can sell the club and the North East to Crouch, using Bent as evidence that careers can be relaunched up on Wearside.
Although Crouchie says he wants to stay in London, he has proved in the past he does not mind moving away from the bright lights in order to further his footballing career.
