Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was happy to see new signing Lorik Cana fill in at centre-back against Hearts on Saturday.

"Cana can play centre-back, I know that, but I wanted to see him there," said Bruce. "He's played there for Marseille and his country many times.

"Obviously, with Nyron (Nosworthy) going off, it gave us the chance to see him there. Nyron has got a fracture and has had the finger stitched but it shouldn't prevent him being available next week."
