Sunderland boss Steve Bruce hailed the performance of Lorik Cana in their victory over Liverpool.
Cana was forced to play at centre-half following illness to George McCartney.
"God, he was immense out there,'' said Bruce. "His second-half performance was arguably as good as I've seen in a top, top game.
"Lorik was a cult hero at Marseille and I couldn't believe they were making him available. It was possibly the easiest transfer we made this summer."
