Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has explained the sale of Martyn Waghorn to Leicester City.

Bruce felt the deal was too good to turn down.

He told The Journal: "You never want to lose one of your young players.

"Martyn has a big future in the game but he is not quite ready for the Premier League yet. I wish him well.

"He is a great kid, but they offered a staggering amount of money so we managed to put that in the kitty as well."
