Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy is set to sign with Ipswich Town.

The Daily Mail says Roy Keane has returned to his old club Sunderland to tie up a loan move for Murphy.

The breakthrough is a reward for persistence by the Ipswich manager after he was foiled in a bid to recruit the 26-year old Irishman last summer.

Keane maintained his interest and has finally succeeded in adding Murphy to his attacking options as he bids to continue steering Ipswich away from trouble near the foot of the Coca Cola Championship.

Murphy's move to East Anglia for the rest of the season will be confirmed on Monday, and he will go straight into their squad for next Saturday's home game with Middlesbrough.
