Sturridge one of the bets strikers in the world when up and firing - Liverpool captain Henderson

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has claimed that Daniel Sturridge, when fit, is one of the best strikers in the world.

The 26-year-old has struggled with injury problems for the past two seasons and has managed only six league appearances this term.

Sturridge marked his first league start since October by heading home the opening goal in the 6-0 demolition of Aston Villa on Sunday and Henderson was delighted to see him back to scoring ways.

"I've known Studge for years and I am quite close to him," said Henderson.

"I have been with him a lot while he has been out. You have to understand he has been more frustrated than anyone at being out.

"There is a lot gets said about him outside of our group. I know it hurts him and I know it is hard for him to take. He is doing things to try and get back. He doesn't want to be injured.

"He is more annoyed than anyone that he isn't playing. But now he is back, he has got a smile on his face and he has been world class. You can see in the games that he has played how much he has been missed.

"Everyone knows how good he is but because he has been out for a while, you do forget the quality he has got and how good he actually is. Hopefully he can continue to stay fit and cause problems when he plays.

"When he is firing, he is one of the best in the world. He is that good. Finishing, touches, movement - he has got everything.

"He gets one chance and scores one goal and that is the difference."
