Sturridge focused on helping Liverpool return to winning ways

Striker Daniel Sturridge reveals that he places more importance on Liverpool winning rather than personal achievements.

Sturridge made his first Premier League start for Liverpool since October by featuring against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday and he marked the occasion with a well-taken goal in the 6-0 victory for the Reds.

The striker was happy to find the back of the net on the day but insisted that Liverpool getting back to winning ways was more important than him marking his name on the scoresheet.

He told the club's official website: "It's great, but it's more important that the team wins the game. It's more important to help, whether it's assists, goals or making runs.

"It's just important to help the team win games – that's all that matters.

"I've been watching from the sidelines and we have been unlucky in recent games. It was great to get the result today and to score so many goals. It gives us confidence for future games."
