Arsenal are making a stunning move for former Birmingham City centre-forward Nikola Zigic. Zigic was released by Championship outfit Birmingham in May.
Agent Milan Calasan revealed Arsene Wenger made a personal phone call to him as the Frenchman attempts to alleviate his striking crisis.
"Wenger called me in the afternoon on Tuesday and stressed the desire to engage Nikola Zigic," Calasan told SPORT.
"He was offered a contract to the end of the year, with an option to extend until the end of 2015. We will see what happens, but everything Nikola has to decide."
