Stoke City chief Tony Scholes says they'd welcome a return to Europe.

Scholes admitted that English football was guilty of under-playing the Europa League's significance.

"As you go around Europe," he said at a fans forum, "they view the Europa League more seriously than us.

"I saw that when we went out and played Hadjuk Split. When we beat them out there they were genuinely devastated, like a devastation you see when teams are relegated from the Premier League and it shows how teams out there view the Europa League."
