Stoke City winger Matthew Etherington has blasted England coach Roy Hodgson for ignoring teammates Peter Crouch and Ryan Shawcross.
Etherington claims Hodgson is the latest Three Lions boss to stigmatise Stoke, whose last England player was Mark Chamberlain in 1984.
"You would think he needs a map and that says it all," said the Stoke winger. "It is frustrating.
"If the England manager says he's going to pick players on merit - well, it doesn't always work.
"Crouchie should be in the squad. His international record is second to none and since he came here, he's been scoring regularly. He's priceless for us. He's got five goals already this season and was it 15 last season? He's got plenty and it is a puzzle.
"I don't want to come across as though 'we are Stoke and everyone hates us', but Ryan should be mentioned as well.
"Ryan should be in the frame as well, but when you play for Stoke, there seems to be a stigma."
