Stoke City have taken Charlton midfielder Amdy Faye on trial.

Potters boss Tony Pulis is hoping to gain permission from Charlton to play Faye in tonight's friendly against Osasuna.

He told The Sentinel: "He's a player with good Premier League experience at Portsmouth and Newcastle and there was nothing to lose by having a closer look.

"I've spoken to Harry Redknapp about him because he was the one who bought him over to England in the first place. He said he was worth giving the once over.

"He's essentially a midfielder, but can really play various positions. I'm trying to get hold of Charlton as regards tonight's game so we'll have to wait on that one."
