Stoke City star Xherdan Shaqiri has hit back at former Switzerland international David Degen.
The Potters most certainly pulled off a major coup by securing the services of Shaqiri from Inter Milan this summer but many have been critical of the winger's decision to join the mid-table club.
Recently, former Young Boys and FC Basel winger Degen slammed Shaqiri for joining the club 'at the middle of nowhere' but the 23-year-old has now gone on to hit back at the footballer-turned-columnist.
Shaqiri said: "David Degen doesn't know what it is like to play at a big club. He never had the chance ... but I shouldn't say anymore than that.
"(Is my career going the wrong way?) No, not for me. I'm still relatively young at 23. I can improve every day and have not yet reached my potential. It's perfect for me in Stoke."
