Stoke's Crouch one of Premier League's best - Hughes

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes believes Peter Crouch is one of the best strikers in Premier League history.

The 34-year old centre-forward equaled Alan Shearer's record of 46 headed goals when he nodded home in the 71st-minute to give the Potters a 1-0 win over Hull City on Saturday.

The goal was Crouch's 93rd in England's top flight and came not long after he penned a contract extension with the Staffordshire club which delighted his manager.

"That can be levelled at some guys, but not the ones I've got and certainly not Peter," said Hughes.

"We are really grateful he's still performing at the level he is. He's equalled the record of headed goals. And he's got great opportunities in the future to surpass that, so that will cement his place as one of the top strikers in Premier League history in my opinion."
