Stoke loss a day to forget - Fulham's Schwarzer

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer admitted that Saturday's 2-0 loss to Stoke City was a 'day to forget' for the club.

The Cottagers failed to capitalise on their 6-0 hammering of West London rivals QPR last time out to fall at the Britannia Stadium which pushed them down to 14th on the table.

After the game, Schwarzer said it was a disappointing performance by he and his teammates but was confident they could bounce back very quickly.

"It was a hugely frustrating afternoon for us and it was a day to forget in many ways," he told the club's official website.

"The hardest thing to take was the fact that for the majority of the match we dealt with everything they threw at us.

"We gave away a couple of silly free-kicks and they punished us. That is unlike us and as a result it is very difficult to take.

"But we're a strong group and now we have to go away and learn from that. Losing games always hurts and if we didn't feel that way then we're in the wrong job.

"We have to take from the positives too because at times we did play well, particularly in the first 45 minutes. We had a couple of chances and had John Arne Riise's free-kick gone in near the end then perhaps things could have been different.

"On the back of the defeat of QPR we were obviously in confident mood and of course we wanted more today. We would have liked to have built on the recent momentum, but we'll bounce back."
