Stoke City goalkeeper Steve Simonsen expects to join Sheffield United.

The Journal says sources in South Yorkshire suggested former loanee Simonsen remains their first choice to replace Paddy Kenny.

"The manager (Tony Pulis) has known me a long time," Simonsen had admitted.

"And he knows it would benefit me hugely to be playing regular football.

"Whether that comes in the form of a loan move or a permanent move I don't know but I wouldn't rule it out."
