Jack Butland is expected to be out of action for the entirety of this summer's European Championships.
The Stoke City goalkeeper sustained a fractured ankle in Saturday night's 3-2 friendly win over Germany in Berlin and is now unlikely to be available for Roy Hodgson's Three Lions squad for Euro2016 in France which kicks off in June.
The diagnosis of the injury has now been confirmed by Stoke while Butland took to Twitter to relay news of the misfortune, having undergone scans on the affected area on Sunday.
Today's scan revealed I've fractured my ankle, absolutely devasted! I'll be doing everything I can to get back fit as soon as I can!

The injury occurred when Butland went to ground sharply to collect a ball in the 41st minute before remaining grounded two minutes later after Toni Kroos has fired Germany into the lead. He was replaced by Fraser Forster as he was stretchered off.
Butland, 23, will now miss the remainder of the Premier League season with the Potters as well as the UEFA tournament.
