Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is determined to prove manager Tony Pulis he was right to resist interest from Chelsea for him.
Bosnian-born Begovic, who was four when his family fled his homeland to live first in Germany and then Canada, is determined to justify his manager's praise.
Begovic said: "Last season was great on all fronts for me.
"Breaking through into the team was fantastic and seeing the success of the whole team was brilliant as well.
"Now we want to push on and have a better season. Your goal every year is to get better, and we're trying to get better.
"We just missed out on finishing in the top 10 because we lost on the last day to Wigan, so to reach that target this time has to be our goal.
"It'll be hard again, but we feel that we can achieve it."
