Stoke City have slammed Erik Pieters with a £70,000 fine for ignoring a club curfew and attending a celebrity VIP event with his wife.

The Dutch international was spotted at the opening of Hale nightspot Club Arvina with his model wife.

As the Potters were set to play against Everton in a crucial game the next day, Pieters was supposed to be resting at home.

Potters boss Paul Lambert had initially planned to start the 29-year-old during the game but opted to drop him after learning about what had transpired.
