Stoke fielding offers for Jonathan Walters and Glenn Whelan

Stoke City are fielding offers for Jonathan Walters and Glenn Whelan.

The Sentinel says both Walters and Whelan have attracted interest from rival clubs in the past few weeks.

Aston Villa were reported to have made a £500,000 approach for Whelan last month, and while Stoke are believed to be ready to sell, they want at least £1m for the 33-year-old midfielder. Derby County are also believed to be interested in the Republic of Ireland player.

Burnley incensed the Stoke hierarchy last week by making what they regarded as an insulting low offer for Republic of Ireland striker Walters, who is also 33.

While Stoke are open to deals for two players who have been instrumental to the club's Premier League survival, manager Mark Hughes will also be aware that they came to his rescue last season when the Potters were struggling.
