Stoke City are eager to find a loan club for Jack Butland.
The Sentinel says Butland remains at Stoke for now, but hopes are high that he will find a Championship club on a 93-day loan when the emergency transfer window re-opens next week.
West Bromwich Albion were strong contenders to sign Butland as a temporary replacement for the injured Ben Foster.
But they were reluctant to use up one of their loan options after banking on re-signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, before ending up with neither him or Butland.
Sheffield Wednesday are still keen to sign Butland as competition for Chris Kirkland at Hillsborough.
