Stoke confident beating Newcastle for Francis

Stoke City are confident beating Newcastle United for coach Gerry Francis.

The Magpies' interim manager Joe Kinnear confirmed over the weekend he had made an offer to former Spurs boss Francis.

Kinnear wants Francis to take on a coaching role in a part-time capacity, but Tony Pulis has now confirmed that he too has made a similar offer.

And Pulis is confident Francis will soon begin work at The Britannia Stadium.

"I think it's almost sorted with Gerry and he's coming to us," Pulis told The Sentinel.

"We've got a part-time role in mind, probably two days a week, and I'll be delighted to have someone of his experience on board with us."
