Stoke chief Scholes welcomes deal for Dionatan Teixeira

Stoke City chief Tony Scholes has welcomed the arrival of Dionatan Teixeira.

Centre-back Teixeira, aged 21, sealed a move from Slovakian top flight club Banksa Bystrica last week after a spell on trial under Mark Hughes at Clayton Wood.

Scholes told The Sentinel: "Teixeira came here on trial at the end of last season.

"He spent a few weeks with us, and really that's the best type of interview you can ever have.

"You get to see if he fits in with the first team squad, if they take to him, and if he is up to the level.

"Mark likes him, his coaching team like him and he's still a very good young man.

"He's got a great stature for his age and our coaches believe he can develop into a good solid player for us.

"He's 21 years old so he's got development time on his side, like when we signed Marc Muniesa from Barcelona last summer.

"I wouldn't anticipate him going straight into the starting 11, but certainly he is one who has a lot of potential to develop."
