Stoke chairman Coates delighted to deliver Wembley trip to fans

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates is delighted fans will sell out their allocation of Wembley tickets for the FA Cup semifinal.

Coates says he can't wait to see a sea of red and white at Wembley.

"We are delighted to be in the semi-finals," he told The Sentinel. "It is great for the club and great for the city.

"I am pleased the ticket sales have gone well, and I think our staff deserve a lot of credit. They have made things work well.

"I am not surprised so many people have bought tickets already. There is tremendous interest in this game."

Coates is hoping City's 32,000-strong travelling army will help create a Britannia Stadium atmosphere at Wembley in Stoke's first FA Cup semi-final since losing to Arsenal in 1972.

He added: "Our supporters make a big difference to us, you can see that from our home record.

"I was there for our last semi-final in 1972, although there wasn't the best outcome. This time we want to make sure we win."
