Stoke boss Pulis: I'd take Rooney, Giggs off Man Utd

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has nominated the two Manchester United players he'd love to be wearing a Potters shirt.

"Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs," he said.

"Rooney's commitment, effort and quality are up there with the best," he continued.

"He's now playing in his best position up front and he will be a massive handful for us tomorrow.

"And obviously I'm a Welshman, so I'd go for Giggsy. If Stoke could have had him for the past 14 years, what a player he would have been for this football club."

Giggs may be nearer 40 than 30 these days, but last Sunday's man-of-the-match performance in the Manchester derby served stunning notice of his enduring quality.

"I'm biased because he's Welsh," Pulis added, "but he's been a shining example to everybody.

"Sir Alex is a crafty old bugger and if he didn't think Ryan had it left in him, then he wouldn't still be at the football club.

"He's like a good bottle of wine - getting better the older he gets."
