Stoke boss Lambert: Our defence will save us from relegation

Paul Lambert has praised his defenders for their performance in Stoke City's 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

Chelsea loanee Kurt Zouma and Dutchman Bruno Martins Indi marshalled the centre of defence, while debutante Kostas Stafylidis made an impact at left-back. The unit produced a strong outing against the Foxes, and they would've had a clean sheet had it not been for Jack Butland's blunder.

And if the defence continues to hold up, Lambert believes the Potters will beat relegation.

"I thought (Kurt) Zouma and Martins Indi were outstanding, along with Kostas in his first game," said Lambert.

"We played ever so well. We looked a great team going forward and were defensively strong.

"We have always been in games, which is important for us, to compete. Anybody coming to our games in the last few weeks would see Stoke City as a good side.

"If we keep playing the way we are, we will certainly climb the table."
