Stoke boss Hughes satisfied with victory over Bournemouth

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes was delighted with victory over Bournemouth.

A Jon Walters opener was cancelled out by Dan Gosling's equaliser before Mame Biram Diouf netted an 83rd minute winner to record their first league victory at their seventh attempt this season.

"It was an important win," Hughes confessed with a sigh of relief.

"I would say we have arguably played better in other games and got beaten, but today was about getting the three points.

"We have got that off our backs and now we can play with a bit more freedom.

"Second half we played with a bit of apprehension to try and protect that lead and let them back into the game.

"But we showed good courage after that because it would have been easy for Bournemouth to gain momentum after their equaliser."
