Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says they plan to add kilos to the frame of Giannelli Imbula.

Like Marc Muniesa and Bojan before him, the 23 year-old midfielder has arrived a little under his true fighting weight and will be sent to the gym to fill out over the next six months or so.

Hughes explained: "He probably hasn't done a great deal of conditioning work, having checked him he's got more to come in terms of that.

"We can add more power to the power he undoubtedly already has. You think of Marc Muniesa and Bojan when they first came here they did need that bit of conditioning work.

"Giannelli will get similar programmes that will help him and make him even more powerful.

"It doesn't seem to be a thing that's a priority (at overseas clubs), but we feel that given the intensity of the Premier League that it's something players benefit from and we've got good examples to show people if they question that statement."
