Raheem Sterling is no closer to agreeing a new contract with Manchester City following the World Cup.
The player had been hoping a great showing in Russia would boost his hand in negotiations, according to the Mirror.
But it appears City now have the upper hand, with the club refusing to cave into his agent's demands.
They are still hoping he will accept a deal around the £170,000-a-week he currently earns. But Sterling wants more.
If a deal is not agreed by the end of the season, City may consider cashing in on the talented English winger.
Sterling enjoyed his best season for City, scoring 23 goals as they won the Premier League title at a canter.
