Sterling told LFC TV how the two are coping with the pressures of first-team football by sticking together.
"I try to tell Jordon stuff that I experienced last year, which he is going through now. We're both helping each other to do well," said Sterling.
"He's been brilliant through the whole pre-season and scored in the last game. [Against Indonesia] it was great play from him and unselfish play from Oussama Assaidi as well to play me through.
"It was a great team goal. I'm close mates with Jordon and we speak all the time. As young players we've got to encourage each other."
