Stephenson back with San Jose as Earthquakes waive Martinez

San Jose Earthquakes have re-signed veteran midfielder Khari Stephenson.

The 33-year old Jamaica international arrives back at the Buck Shaw Stadium after spending the 2013 MLS season with Real Salt Lake.

Stephenson, formerly of Sporting Kansas City (then KC Wizards), initially signed with the Quakes in August 2010 from Norwegian club Aalesunds FK and made over 70 appearances in all competitions in his first spell in San Jose.

The 32-times capped Jamaican attacking midfielder, who has spent time with Swedish sides GAIS and AIK Stockholm in the past, has been added to the Quakes roster while Walter Martinez has been waived.

The 31-year old Honduran striker scored two goals and provided two assists in 15 appearances for San Jose last season after joining from Chinese side Chongqing in January 2013.
