STATS SHOCKER: Man Utd defensive record worst in 40 seasons

Manchester United's defensive frailties were laid bare at Everton.

By conceding four goals on Sunday, United have now let through 48 league goals - which is the most of any season in 40 years.

United's defence included Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who have both been handed improved contracts this season.

Everton also ran 8.03 kilometres further than their visitors at Goodison Park and United have covered less ground than 15 of their 17 league opponents under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
