St Johnstone's Fallon: NZ need to get ugly in order to grow

Rory Fallon has urged the New Zealand national team to 'get ugly' if they want to succeed on the international stage.

The All Whites were beaten 4-2 by Mexico in the second leg of their intercontinental World Cup playoff in Wellington on Wednesday night to lose 9-3 on aggregate and the St Johnston striker believes the team has to be tougher to beat in the future.

"We need to get a bit more streetwise, we need to get to the ugly side of our game," said the scorer of Wednesday's second NZ goal.

"It was men against boys. But boys will turn into men and we've got four another four years for them to grow into themselves."
