James McCarthy must demand a transfer if he is to leave Everton this summer.
The Daily Star Sunday says Goodison boss Roberto Martinez insists the Republic of Ireland midfielder is not for sale.
So if McCarthy, 24, wants to change that situation it looks like he will have to push to go.
Everton adopted a similar stance two years ago when Manchester United were trying to sign Leighton Baines.
Tottenham are keen to tempt McCarthy to London.
