Spurs striker Kane: I'm like any England fan. I've also cried many times!

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is full of pride over his England call-up.

Kane admits England has left him in tears as a kid supporting the national team.

"I was only a kid - I've probably cried a few times when we've lost penalty shootouts," Kane recalls to the Daily Mail. "I remember the European Championships in 2004. Wayne Rooney was a special player in that tournament and I definitely cried when we got knocked out then.

"I watched all the games in the pub with my family. We used to go to a place called The Sirloin in Chingford, it was quite a good atmosphere in there. I'm a very patriotic England fan, actually. I always wore my heart on my sleeve.

"Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the winning penalty, getting Rooney sent off and giving it the wink, I remember it all. I was on holiday in Thailand and Dubai last summer, but I watched the last World Cup as a fan just the same. We can only get better in these tournaments, can't we? That's how we should look at it.

"I went to see England against Switzerland at Wembley with my dad and brother, too. That was in 2008, Fabio Capello's first game in charge. Jermaine Jenas scored and we won 2-1. I remember the national anthem was incredible. I sang it with pride, always do. Hopefully, next time I'm back I'll get the chance to do it on the pitch."
