Spurs leave Gomes to Everton, West Ham

Tottenham have pulled out of the running for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

The Daily Mail says Tottenham have dropped their interest in Gomes, paving the way for Everton and West Ham to battle for the playmaker's signature.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino's side will no longer follow up on their interest in Gomes, who appears destined to switch permanently to the Premier League.

West Ham made an opening move for the Portugal international earlier in the week by tabling an £18million offer to Barca.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini has identified the Gomes as a priority signing this summer and the club acted fast to try and get a deal over the line before being locked into a bidding war with Everton.
