Tottenham fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto could be in hot water after a confrontation with a fan after defeat to Wolves.

Spurs had been beaten by Kevin Doyle's third-minute header, with the post-match incident occurring by the tunnel at Spurs' ground.

Joe Jordan hauled the Cameroon international away and led him down the tunnel, then the Spurs assistant boss later gave his version of events to club's security team.

One eyewitness said the Spurs defender raised his hands to the supporters neck after receiving verbal abuse.

"We are aware of the incident and we are investigating," said a Spurs spokesperson. "The police are speaking to everyone involved."
