Former West Ham striker Dean Ashton has urged Tottenham to sell Eric Dier to Manchester United.

United were last week reported to have slapped down a £40m bid for the former Sporting Lisbon man.

And Ashton reckons Tottenham should bite their hand off.

“I would do, yeah," the former West Ham striker told talkSPORT, when asked if he would accept £40m for Dier.

“I think that's unbelievable money for a holding midfielder.

"I know he is versatile and he has done very well for Spurs, but he doesn't get in their best XI.

"He doesn't get in their best XI!"
