Spurs debutants impress Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says he has been left impressed by the performances of his debutants in their EFL Cup triumph on Wednesday night.

Spurs romped their way to a fine 5-0 victory over Gillingham in the third round of the league cup and the victory was all the more impressive due to the fact that Spurs had fielded a very young side during the encounter.

The likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Georges-Kevin N'koudou, Anton Walkes and Marcus Edwards were all handed their debuts for the club and following the game, Pochettino has gone on to hail the quartet for their respective performances.

Pochettino said: "They play very well, they play with a lot of confidence.

"I am very happy because if you see the confidence of Carter-Vickers, Harry Winks, Anton Walkes, they were fantastic.

"They come through the academy but they have the quality to impress us and play for the first team.

"It's important for Tottenham and it was fantastic to give them the opportunity to play and fantastic experience for them."
