Spurs chairman Levy plans massive clearout to fund new deals

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is planning a massive end-of-season clearout. The Daily Mail says Levy wants to shift out a number of first-team players he deems a drain on the club's finances in the summer.

The North London club will look to offload Heurelho Gomes, Sebastien Bassong, Vedran Corluka, David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas and Giovani Dos Santos in a bid lighten the wage bill.

And Levy feels moving the aforementioned players out of White Hart Lane will help the club offer higher wages, which would help their efforts to sign Emmanuel Adebayor and secure Luka Modric to a long-term contract - and aid their attempts to make big name summer signings.
