Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas feels Liverpool have been granted a free run by the media this season.
Victory this weekend at home against Liverpool would leave Tottenham equal on points with Brendan Rodgers side.
AVB said: "So, again [we are] back on track towards the top teams in the country so far.
"We have this wonderful situation against Liverpool that if we win we go level on points with a team that started so brilliantly in the league.
"So straight away you have a comparison there from everything we've gone through to be level on points with a team that has been so magnificent so far shows that in the end we are not so far off.
"And still bearing in mind the season before that we can compare, it was this fixture that we lost against Everton last season so for us, if we win it will be four points better than the season before.
"It would be outstanding for the start of the season."
