Timo Werner admits he had to think long and hard before joining Tottenham.
Werner moved to Spurs from RB Leipzig, but his Chelsea background had him initially hesitating.
"Of course it's a bit strange. In Germany, not many would cheer if you switched from Dortmund to Schalke," he told Sky Deutschland.
"But especially in London there are many clubs, so the probability of playing for a rival when you return is not low.
"Now I play for Chelsea's biggest rival. At first I thought about it. Also because I was pretty well regarded by the fans.
"Nevertheless, the step back to the best league in the world was important for me. Back to a style of football I really enjoyed back then.
“At the end of the day, I came here because that's exactly what I needed, to find that fun in football again. And also to play.
“All of this might mean that I can still be there at the European Championships."
